Dizziness and Ringing in Your Ears

Do you have ringing in your ears? Are you turning up the volume of your TV and  your phone and wish you had a volume control for everything? Do you experience ‘dizziness’ for what seems like no particular reason?

Did you know that the ringing in your ears could be caused by hearing loss?

You may be suffering from hearing loss, tinnitus or vertigo. The only way to know for sure is to talk to your audiologist, who is your local hearing expert.

Don't wait!

Tinnitus

The most common symptom of tinnitus is ringing in your ears. At a minimum this is annoying, and can make it hard to hear everyday sounds. Severe tinnitus can be loud enough to keep you from sleeping, and can cause dizziness and nausea.

Ringing in your ears can be annoying — or unbearable.

In some cases, tinnitus symptoms can be caused or exacerbated by allergies and congestion in your nasal passages. More often, the symptoms are an indication of developing hearing loss. Either way, the smart thing to do is to have us test your hearing right away. Then we can discuss your treatment options.

ZEN – RELIEF FOR TINNITUS
The Zen program helps tinnitus sufferers relax and make tinnitus less noticeable. Widex developed the Zen program inspired by the relaxing effect of certain types of music.

Based on what is known as fractal technology, Zen plays random, chime-like tones that can be used for relaxation and for making tinnitus less noticeable.

Your hearing care professional can adjust the Zen program according to your preferences in terms of pitch, tempo and volume. You can try one of the Zen styles above and experiment with the Zen sound.

Vertigo

Vertigo, or what some people just call dizziness, can cause you to lose your balance and increase your chances of falling. That’s the last thing anyone wants, but unfortunately the incidence of falls increases for people over 65.

It’s not a coincidence that many people over 65 are also experiencing hearing loss. Vertigo is caused by a disease affecting your inner ear. Your inner ear function is what helps you stay upright and helps with your balance.

Is vertigo putting you or a loved one at risk?

If you or a loved one are experiencing vertigo, call us to get your hearing evaluated as soon as possible. We will give you a professional diagnosis and a treatment plan so you can maintain your balance and avoid injury.

Could your hearing loss be as simple as earwax?

Some people just make more earwax than others. Over time, wax builds up in your ear canal and can harden and become stuck, despite your best efforts to clean it out. Cleaning with swabs can actually make the situation worse by pushing the wax in deeper. You can’t feel this buildup, but it can lead to temporary hearing loss.

Call us to schedule a visit. We’ll check your ears and can unplug them right away, if need be.
